How pricing is structured
Edpire charges for how many people you serve, never for how much you assess. Assessment volume is what we want you to grow, so metering it would work against both of us. Included usage ceilings exist as abuse protection, sized so that normal pedagogical use never reaches them. Every subscription has the same three parts:
There is no usage-based charge of any kind. The only thing that ever changes your price is the size
of the population you serve.
Population bands
- Learning platforms and integrations: banded by active learners, measured by Edpire.
- Schools, universities and centers: banded by enrolled students, declared at signature and re-declared at renewal.
- Registration does not count. A user who never submits an assessment is never billed. If you have 3,000 accounts and 400 use assessments, you are billed for 400.
- Anonymous takers on open links are excluded entirely (see “Guests and public links” below), so a public link cannot change your bill.
- Attempts, retries and resumes by the same learner count once.
What every subscription includes
- Full access to the Edpire assessment builder, with all exercise types
- Full REST API access to all documented endpoints, with rate limits sized to your band
- Webhook delivery with automatic retry
@edpire/sdkfor embedded and custom-flow integrations- Access to
docs.edpire.com - Email support per the SLA
- Platform updates and new features as released, with no separate upgrade fee
- Changelog notification for API changes
What happens if you pass an included ceiling
Nothing is billed, and nothing stops. Included ceilings exist as abuse protection, not as a meter. Passing one is not charged, and your service is not interrupted: calls continue to succeed exactly as before. We send an email at 80% and 100% of each monthly ceiling purely so that growth is never a surprise to you. If you pass a ceiling regularly, it usually means the next band up suits you better. We will tell you when we see it, because a customer permanently brushing a ceiling is a sizing conversation, not a billing one.Growing past your band
Crossing your band mid-year triggers a notification, never a mid-year invoice, and never an interruption. Your annual amount does not move during the contract. The excess is settled at renewal, and you choose when:
We quote whichever of the three costs you least.
The details
- An extra learner is an annual quantity, not a monthly subscription, so it is not prorated. The price is the same whenever you buy it.
- You can prepay until your licence year ends, including after you have already gone past the band. After that the year is closed and the higher rate applies.
- Prepaid capacity is consumed first. Only the remainder is settled afterwards.
- Unused prepaid capacity is not refunded and does not roll over.
- If you move up a band mid-year, prepaid extras are credited in full. Nothing is paid twice.
- If you do not renew, the excess for the year you used is still invoiced, at the end of the licence period.
- Your final count is confirmed in writing 30 days before it is invoiced, after the alerts at 80% and 100%. A bill is never the first time you see a number.
Guests and public links
Some assessments are shared by link rather than assigned to a named learner.- A class link asks the taker who they are (a name, a roster pick, or a class code). Those takers are identified and count toward your population, like any other learner.
- An open link is fully anonymous. Anonymous takers never count toward your population, so a link that spreads further than you expected can never change your bill. Because those takers did not identify themselves, open-link assessments report aggregate results only, with no per-learner analytics or progress tracking.
